Child abuse is horrific.
It is a topic that feels heavy, uncomfortable and unimaginable.
And yet, for too many children, it is a reality.
When a child comes to the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center (NKYCAC), it is likely that something terrible has already happened. We cannot change that part of their story. But we can help write what comes next.
The NKYCAC in Boone County serves as a place of hope for children and families throughout our region. We ensure that children facing allegations of abuse are met with compassion, coordination and care rather than confusion or chaos. Last year alone, 999 children in Northern Kentucky, our very own community, needed the services of the center.

NKYCAC is a Safe Place in the Middle of the Storm
The mission of the NKYCAC is to provide a coordinated response to concerns of child abuse in a child-focused environment, offering evaluation, treatment, and prevention to children and families. It provides a welcoming space designed to help children feel safe and supported. Children share their stories with trained, compassionate professionals who understand how to talk and listen to kids in ways that reduce trauma and promote healing. Since telling their story can be one of the hardest steps in a child’s healing process, our team walks gently beside them.
NKYCAC is the only Children’s Advocacy Center in Northern Kentucky serving children under the age of 18 who are alleged victims of, or at risk of:
- Sexual abuse
- Severe physical abuse
- Human trafficking
- Witnessing violent crimes
We also provide supportive services to non-offending parents, caregivers, siblings, family members and professionals throughout the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD), including Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton counties.
Because when one child is hurt, an entire family is impacted.

Voices of Hope
One parent shared:
“The people at NKYCAC met us in such a horrible space, but they listened to my child and gave us direction and help in a difficult time.”
A child once told us:
“My heart was broken, and I tried my hardest to make it better. After I shared what happened to me, it is better.”
Those powerful words remind us why this work matters. Although the abuse may be part of a child’s story, it does not need to define their future.

There Is Hope
Child abuse is devastating. We cannot pretend otherwise.
But there is hope.
There is a team of professionals who care deeply.
There is a safe place for children to speak.
There is support for families navigating unimaginable circumstances.
There is a community that refuses to look away.
At the NKYCAC, when the worst has happened, we help children and families begin the healing process with compassion, dignity and unwavering support.
Every child deserves to be heard.
Every family deserves help.
And healing is possible.

Stand With Us
During Child Abuse Prevention Month, we invite our community to stand with us.
Learn the signs of abuse. Have conversations that matter. Support families who may be struggling. Speak up when something doesn’t feel right. Protecting children is not the work of one organization alone – it is the responsibility of all of us.
You can be part of the healing. Schedule a tour. Visit our website. Share our mission. Support the children and families we serve.
Because when the unthinkable happens, hope lives here, and hope is stronger when a community stands together.
