Several updates are underway at the Chapin Memorial Library in Petersburg as BCPL works to better meet the needs of the community. BCPL has been working with consultants at SHP to learn more about how the library can best serve local residents, and several improvements are already taking place.
I am Kaitlin, the new Branch Manager of the Chapin Memorial Library. As a lifelong Boone Countian, I have always appreciated Petersburg for its beautiful historic buildings, proximity to the river and small-town feel. That makes me even more excited to begin this new adventure and serve the Petersburg community.
Some of the changes taking place at our Petersburg location include:
- A library card is no longer required to access the library during staffed hours
- Printing is available anytime the library is open
- Increased security with an updated camera system
- Refreshed toys and board games available during staffed hours
- New furniture expected to arrive this summer

Along with these updates, we continue to offer a variety of services and resources, including:
- 6 – 8 programs throughout the year held at the Petersburg Community Center, such as:
- Intro to Genealogy
March 31 at 5:30 p.m. - How To: American Construction Toy Museum
April 22 at 5:30 p.m.
- Intro to Genealogy
- An honor collection refreshed weekly, along with fun displays
- Access to BCPL’s circulating collection through lockers available anytime the library is open
- Access to BCPL’s digital collection, numerous online resources, book recommendations, book bundle requests, Tales’ Birthday Club, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and more
- Friendly staff available to help with any of these resources

Visit during staffed hours to have your card approved for extended card-access hours.
