It’s officially spooky season and the Library has plenty of programs to get you in the spirit! Please note: Many programs require registration. Links to our Events page have been provided below.
If you’ve ever wondered what paranormal investigators do, we have two different chances to hear them live! Join Cave Paranormal Engineering at the Main Library as they explore the tragic events that have lead to the belief that the Gaines Tavern in Walton is haunted! They’ll discuss their paranormal experiences in the structure, and display some of their tools of the trade. Then at the Hebron Branch, members of Paranormal Investigators of Northern Kentucky (P.I.N.K.) will explore local paranormal and seemingly unexplainable events.
The Haunts of Local History!
The Library’s Local History Department is offering two virtual options this October. If you’ve lived in Boone County for any period of time, you’ve probably visit Rabbit Hash at least once. It may be one of the smaller communities in Northern Kentucky, but it is definitely one of the most haunted. Join the Local History Department on Facebook Live as they explore historic Rabbit Hash’s haunted locations and learn of its long-dead residents who still walk among us. Want more local ghost stories? Register for the Ghosts of Boone County program as Local History staff tell tales of murder, mayhem, and hauntings particular to our county.

From the Beyond!
If you’re interested in the mysticism that has existed in Cincinnati, local writer Greg Hand uncovers Westwood’s Lew Kraft, a tough customer who took over Boss Cox’s saloon at Dead Man’s Corner and helped enforce the Boss’ reign in Cincinnati. Lew had a mystical side and found a clairvoyant to produce two children for him from the spiritual realm. This will be offered both in-person at the Florence Branch and via Zoom.
