Our shelves are packed with surprises from the hottest bestsellers to cozy holiday reads, and from blockbuster movies to hidden DVD treasures. Every visit is a chance to discover something new, so being a last-minute shopper doesn’t mean you missed out; it just means you’re on a mission to explore. And if we don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, we will track it down for you through our Interlibrary Loan.

Our librarians are your book-buying experts, except you don’t actually have to buy the book. If you don’t have time to shop at the Library, fill out our adult Reading Recommendations form and our staff will create a list of great reads. For child recommendations, fill out the Book Bundles form, and watch for a notification that your bundle is on hold for your family to enjoy. 

Your library’s Digital Branch and Resources never close. Stream, read and listen anytime, especially while you’re wrapping gifts, baking cookies or enjoying a cozy fire. Seriously, have you seen the holiday music on Freegal or the festive reads on Libby? 

The best gifts are handmade and your library has you covered! DIY holiday crafts, handmade gift inspiration, cookie swap recipes and more can be found on our shelves. If you prefer digital, check out Creativebug. Or visit the Boone Innovation Lab to learn a new creative skill that will impress. Borrow a little creativity for the season!

Shop from home and place your items on hold. Then swing by any BCPL location to grab your items from our “Holds” shelf. The best part, if it’s cold, raining or even snowing, pull up to our Curbside sign or drive-thru access (depending on the location), and we will bring the holds to you. Let us do the work while you stay toasty. Fast, easy and guess what…no tips!

If you can’t decide between the red book or the green book, check out both! Unlike that sweater, you can use each and decide which you prefer. When you’re done, just return it! No receipt, no tags, no hassle, no guilt and no restocking fees. We won’t ask why you’re returning it, but if you want to share your opinion, we would love to hear it! 

If retail therapy is needed, browse our used book sale room for gently loved reads at bargain prices. It’s the only place where “buying” at the library is encouraged, and your dollars go right back into supporting your library. Located on the first floor of the Main Library, you can browse books, magazines, videos and even a few free items whenever the Library is open! In this rare case, all sales are final:)
