Barbara Hill, President of the BCPL Board of Trustees, is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a B.S. in education and a M.Ed. in curriculum and supervision. Barb worked in public education teaching in grades K-5, working in the curriculum at the district level, and ending her career as an early childhood principal. Retirement led Barb to her next chapter, contributing to the community. She applied to serve on the BCPL Board and was appointed in April 2017. Earning her Kentucky Public Library Trustee Certification is one of her accomplishments.

Barb’s time on the board has been rewarding, to say the least. “I want to be a good steward with finances and have a library system that serves the community in many ways in addition to books.” She was involved with the building and completion of the Hebron Branch and found it gratifying. As a Board member, she is now working on the future Walton Branch. Barb has always been an avid library user. “I enjoy walking into the library, pulling a newspaper or magazine off the shelf, finding a quiet spot and reading something new.”

Barb has resided in Boone County for 21 years. She and her husband George have three grown children and seven grandchildren ages 6-15. The family enjoys vacationing in Traverse City, Michigan every summer. Reading and cooking are Barb’s two favorite hobbies. The Laura Ingalls Wilder “Little House” series was her favorite book as a child. Her favorite recent read is Beautiful Country: A Memoir by Qian Julie Wang, and her favorite book format is eBooks.
