I graduated from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Anthropology and I worked for several years as an Archaeologist and GIS Mapping Specialist in environmental consulting before earning my Masters in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 2001. While in consulting, I developed skills in historic preservation and I was fascinated with historic cemeteries and the lives of those buried there. I have dovetailed my experiences and skills related to archaeology, mapping, and historic preservation into my work at BCPL. There are so many facets to Boone County’s history and so many ways to study that history, I believe even after 20 years I could spend another 30 years and still not discover everything about Boone County’s past.
I have been at BCPL since 2001, when I was hired as a reference librarian at the Lents Branch in Hebron. My favorite thing about BCPL has been the opportunity to meet such wonderful people over the years. Having been born and raised in Upstate New York, my ties to Boone County lie in the connections I have made through the people and experiences which have led to 20 years of friendships and a lifetime of memories.
I am very fortunate in that my passions and my profession have intersected. My love for my work has blended into my personal life and I enjoy exploring the world through travel, learning about cultures and the history of the places I visit. My husband Mike and I have two daughters, Rhonda 20 and Alison 14, and we live in Union with our two dogs and five chickens.
