Youth Services Outreach
The Library Bus takes the library experience and resources into the community. Many adults report some of their fondest childhood memories included trips to the neighborhood bookmobile, and as a library system, we are thrilled to continue this service. Our Library Bus services have been in place since 2004, making regular visits to early care and education centers, summer camps, and neighborhoods. Library staff deliver storytimes, enrichment activities, teacher resources, and library materials to an average of 1,000 people per month. However, hundreds more are served when the bus participates in larger community events like Touch-a-Truck or Family Nature Day. We also interact with many people on outreach visits without the bus at schools and community venues.
Children look forward to regular visits from the Library, and we take pleasure in watching them develop over the school year. We work with teachers and caregivers by sharing books and activities they can use in their classrooms and providing access to materials that support early learning. Making social, emotional, and intellectual connections with people is at the heart of everything we do and can only be achieved by having a consistent presence in the community.

Adult Outreach
Adults look forward to visits from the Library, too! Through Adult Outreach, we deliver over 400 items to approximately 160 people each month, using the Outreach Vehicle (the adult version of the Library Bus). Providing access for all members of our community and building relationships with customers drives our team. Adult Outreach customers live in individual homes, independent living, assisted living, and nursing facilities. Items delivered include books, music, movies, video games, and magazines. In addition, we have presented information on genealogy, facilitated craft programs, reminisced about Boone County Christmases past, and touched on many points in between.

If you know of an organization, center, or facility that would be interested in adult library programming, please contact Kaitlin Barber at 859-342-2665 Ext 8157 or kbarber@bcpl.org.
Mobile Boone Innovation Lab (BIL)
But wait, there’s more! We are excited to bring technology and creative experiences out into the community with our new Mobile BIL. The Mobile BIL will provide access to hands-on-building and experiential learning with a variety of equipment. Look for the Mobile BIL in the communities around Boone County.
