Chapin Memorial Library will transition to a new Hybrid model beginning Monday, August 12, 2024.

The Petersburg location closed temporarily in March 2022 due to staffing issues, but reopened in October 2023 as an Express location. Open 47 hours a week, the Express location offers easy access with a BCPL library card. Customers can use computers, printers and a unique locker system to pick up reserved library materials. In addition, there is an honor collection including books, magazines, DVDs and music that customers can keep indefinitely or return for others to enjoy.
Following the launch of the Express location, feedback from the Petersburg community, gathered through a survey and Library Board meetings, indicated there was a need for more. In response, Chapin Memorial Library is adopting a Hybrid model, which combines the Express model with established staffed hours. This new model will allow the library to continue its Express services while also having BCPL staff on-site for 16 hours a week.
What to expect from the Hybrid model beginning August 12.

Introducing Family Storytime!
More great news includes the start of Family Storytime. Beginning on September 5th through November 21st, Family Storytime will be held on Thursdays at 5 p.m. hosted by staff trained to lead storytimes.
The engaging program is designed for children birth to 5+ years of age and their caregivers. Bring your little ones to enjoy interactive stories, rhymes and music that promote language and literacy development from an early age.
BCPL is excited to provide these valuable resources as we embark on this new chapter at Chapin Memorial Library. Thank you, Petersburg residents, for being an integral part of our community.
