Hello, my name is Gina Vega, I work as the Creative Space Specialist in the Outreach department. That means I get to play with the equipment we have at the Mobile Innovation Lab.
I started to work at BCPL in September 2022 when the BIL at Hebron had a part time opening. Working at the BIL was my dream job after being a stay-at-home mom for the last 15 years of my life. In those years, I became a crafter and since I have a degree in Computer Science–Engineering, the Innovation Lab was the mix of both worlds: Creativity + Technology. When I joined the organization, the buzz for the Mobile BIL was loud, and when it became a reality, I wanted to be part of that!

I was born and raised in Mexico City. After graduating from college, I got the opportunity to work on a project in San Jose, Costa Rica and spent 3 years living there. Their people, rapids, volcanoes, and rainforest conquered my heart. I always say I am Mexican first, but “tica” second.

I met my husband Arturo, when I was only 10 years old, and in our teenage years, we became really good friends. We’ve had the chance to travel a bit and together, we have the most amazing family!

We moved to America in October 2010 when my husband came for a “temporary” position at the Toyota headquarters. After a couple of years, we were more than ready to make Hebron our permanent hometown. I’ve raised my children here, and BCPL was a big part of their childhood. We love our library! I keep thinking how lucky I am now to be able to be part of this place.
I have 3 children: Sam, 16, who is a sophomore in Conner High School. Ana, 13, and Dan, 12, who are both part of Conner Middle School.

Outside of work, I spend my time between dance recitals and competitions, Musical Theater shows or Academic Team events.
If for some reason we get to spend time at home, I love to read and cuddle with my kitties: Neko, Jade and Luna.
