Barbara Hill is the newest member of the Boone County Public Library Foundation Board, bringing with her years of experience in public education and a lifelong commitment to literacy and community. Now retired, Barbara began her career as an elementary school teacher before serving as an early childhood principal.

Her dedication to libraries has been long-standing. She served on the Boone County Public Library Board of Trustees for seven years, including four years as Board President. During her tenure, the Hebron and Walton branch libraries were built. She also represented the state as a member of the Board for the Certification of Librarians for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

As an educator, Barbara believes strongly in the power of libraries to shape communities and impact lives. She emphasizes that reading to a child from birth not only builds early literacy skills but also nurtures a lifelong love of books. Since retiring, she has continued to support literacy by helping Boone County children expand their reading skills, and she currently volunteers at Walton-Verona Elementary.

Barbara and her husband, George, have lived in Boone County since 2002. They are the proud parents of three adult children who live nearby, and grandparents to seven. The Hills enjoy traveling with their grandchildren to locations within the South and Midwest. Together, they also spend time each year at Kiawah Island, South Carolina, in the winter and Traverse City, Michigan, in the summer.
