Growing up, I was always fascinated by history. Often to my family’s annoyance, I liked nothing more than a good documentary. In fact, I can trace my love of history back to watching Ken Burns’ The Civil War on PBS as a young boy. The way the past was vividly brought to life and directly connected to the present resonated with me then as it does now. I also had the benefit of excellent history teachers over the years.
I joined BCPL in October 2025 as Manager of the Local History Department after spending 28 years working in academic, law and public libraries. The best part of my job is helping our customers make connections to their family genealogy and break through brick walls in their research. Getting to that “aha!” moment is always worth it. I also enjoy working with my team behind the scenes to digitize historical documents and photographs and make them freely available online for anyone to explore.
When I’m not at the Library, I enjoy traveling abroad and to U.S. national parks with my wife, Jennifer, as well as gardening and landscape photography.
