Some in Boone County know me as Miss Cindy. I started at the Florence Branch in 1998 as the Youth Services Librarian where I loved reading to children and helping customers. In 2006, I was encouraged to take a new position to choose children’s books and AV and maintain the collection. I didn’t want to leave Florence’s kiddos, but reluctantly agreed and moved to the new Main Library in 2008. It only took a week to realize I was meant to be a Youth Collection Development Librarian.

Growing up, I was surrounded by people who guessed I would someday be a librarian. I volunteered in my school library, was a page at a local library during high school, and worked for UK libraries in college and grad school. There were detours along the way, including a Geography degree from UK and a brief stint in Geography graduate school. Ultimately, I completed a Masters in Library Science at UK, while working at NKU’s Steely Library and Clermont County Public Library.

My husband, Dan, a school principal in the Milford (OH)School system, and I have two smart, funny, caring and talkative daughters. Sophie is at Thomas More, majoring in Special/Elementary Education, and Marley, is at Dixie Heights High School. Our “Odd Couple” of the cat world, uber-chill, “voluptuous” Dollie, and goofball, little Annie, bring us much happiness.

Our family takes “nerd vacations” (as Marley so eloquently puts it) chock full of museums, zoos and theaters. Subways and good pizza are a plus! But, we also like the beach to collect shells, jump in the crashing waves, and snorkel.

In addition to reading, I like to bake (not cook!), sew, fiddle with my plants, and vintage shop. I also love to watch movies IN the theater, where my aforementioned chatty daughters don’t interrupt me.
