Visiting BCPL was part of our family routine while growing up in Burlington, Kentucky. I watched the system grow as I was growing – frequenting the Lents Branch, followed by the Scheben Branch and then finally the Main Library. Libraries have always been a place of refuge and imagination for me.
While studying Organizational Communication and Creative Writing at Murray State University, I traveled to many places in the world such as Turkey, China, Scotland, South Korea and Nicaragua. Following graduation, I dabbled in different jobs from hospitality to nonprofits to higher education. I took a year’s worth of graduate courses in storytelling in East Tennessee before heading back to Northern Kentucky and landing a job at Kenton County Public Library.
Within weeks of working in a public library, I knew I had found my calling. I began pursuing my Masters in Library and Information Science, driven by the belief that libraries are more than books. They serve as a community cornerstone and provide a safe space for all, access to technology and opportunities to grow. After two years at KCPL, I returned to my childhood library system as the Community Events Liaison. Now, I am excited to be a part of the new Walton Branch continuing my journey toward my dream of becoming a children’s librarian.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, family and friends. You can find me crafting, soaking in nature, running or relaxing with a good book and my two cats, Moss and Margaret.
