I became a Youth Services Associate for the Scheben Branch in May of 2019. It was a good choice for me because I have worked with children for years. My first babysitting job, at age 10, earned me 25 cents an hour watching three children. In high school I worked in a nursing home, where I loved hearing life stories. In college I dropped my first nursing course (major respect for nurses!) before changing gears to earn an elementary education degree. Since then I have been working with children in various settings: public schools, preschools, daycares, Sunday School, community ed classes, and homeschooling.

I love my job at BCPL! I promote early literacy skills and share my love of reading with kiddos and parents during my storytimes. I also plan special programs and do outreach storytimes in school. Every day is different and I have amazing coworkers and management that make my job even better.
I have been married to my husband, Paul, for nearly 34 years and we have three adult children: John (and Haley), Tim (and Victoria) and Carrie. Watching my children grow, become productive and happy, and seeing their lives expand has been the most wonderful adventure. Life continues to get even better now my first grandchild is on the way!
I was born and raised in Wisconsin, but moved to Union in 2003 when my husband took a new job here. I was amazed at the beautiful new Scheben library, and enjoyed bringing my three children here. I never dreamed I would be working there years later. Even though I had done storytimes for a library system in Wisconsin, traveling between the branches, it just never occurred to me.
My hobbies are reading, genealogy, crafts, and home improvement projects. I love attending theater productions and am happy to have local options like NKU, Arnoff Center, and Carnegie. The cruise I chosen specifically because it was doing a “Grease” production that I knew we would all love. My favorite work-study job in college was sewing costumes for the theater productions.

I recently went on my first cruise – with my friend and coworker/cruise princess Cindy Donaldson to show me the ropes! With our husbands, my daughter and friend, we had such an amazing time sailing to Haiti and enjoying cruise life. My husband’s job involves lots of travel (and not the fun kind), so most of our own travel are visits to family out of state. Last year was a record-breaker where we attended five weddings, taking us to Minnesota, Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin, and my son Tim’s in Ohio.
