Hello! My name is Julie Althaver, and I joined the Boone County Public Library team at the end of April as the Grant Writer and Data Analyst Director. In this role, I identify and write grants using data-driven insights to secure funding that advances the Library’s strategic plan, enhances programs and services, and supports facility updates that tax dollars alone cannot cover.
I grew up in Monroe, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. I’ve been married to my husband, Greg, for 30 years, and we are blessed with three adult children and a grandchild, Elyas, who just started kindergarten. My family loves to travel both nationally and internationally. Some of our most memorable adventures include two weeks in Uganda, exploring Portugal, and celebrating New Year’s Eve on the Nile in Egypt—complete with camel rides in the desert and tours of the pyramids. We also enjoy hiking and have explored many National Parks, including Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Acadia, Mount Rainier, Zion, Everglades, Mammoth Cave, and the Great Smoky Mountains.
At home, cooking is one of my passions. I enjoy trying out new recipes and sharing them with my family during Sunday dinners. I’m also an avid music fan and love getting lost in the lyrics of different genres. My faith in God is the foundation of my life and continues to guide me every day.I am truly excited to be part of such a passionate and dedicated Library team that works tirelessly to support the diverse needs of Boone County residents. From the moment I walked through the doors, I could see the deep commitment to the Library’s mission. While I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you over the past several months, I look forward to visiting more locations, connecting with more colleagues, and collaborating to help people discover, explore, and experience a lifetime of learning at Boone County Public Library.
