You can search 600 popular genealogy reference books from home! Genealogy Connect is a fully searchable database of Genealogical Publishing and Clearfield Company titles accessed through BCPL’s Local History and Genealogy and Research Tools . The intention of the database is to dig a little deeper into your family tree than you would on Ancestry or Family Search.

Topics include: genealogy best practices; research methods and sources; early colonial history; the Revolutionary War; Native North American ancestry; European ancestry and Aristocracy; and much more.

Just adding a surname with a general location in a basic search will produce a number of results from the entire collection of titles. The search results can be viewed as a text document with the source citation in MLA, APA, or Chicago style formats and can be downloaded to your computer, sent to an email address, or a number of cloud-based services. Or you can click on the title and browse through the entire book, chapter by chapter, via the Table of Contents. You even have the option to open the eBook to read it cover to cover. Genealogy Connect is as flexible as you need it to be to explore your family’s history.

Are you interested in learning how to use Genealogy Connect? BCPL’s Local History Department offers research services to help customers navigate all of the local history and genealogy databases available at the Library. We can also answer your questions either over the phone or through email.
