Blanket & Socks Donation Drive | Through January 31
Help our neighbors in need by donating new blankets and socks at any BCPL location. Place donations in bins marked Unseen Neighbors. Items will be distributed to our community during the K-Count and through local organizations.

Imagine being treated differently simply because you don’t have a home. There are countless reasons someone may experience homelessness: housing costs, job loss, mental illness, addiction or family circumstances. In working with homeless people, I’m often reminded how easily they can be overlooked or treated as if they are less than human. Many hurry past without acknowledgment, forgetting that we all deserve basic courtesy and respect. Judging doesn’t help, but understanding does.

Would you maybe consider making up a virtual wishlist or tip jar, so that those of us who have moved away from the area can still donate? No worries if that’s too much coordination for too little staff, but I figured I’d ask!
Hi Shelley,
Thank you so much for the suggestion! We had not considered a virtual wishlist or tip jar, and it is a great idea. Since the campaign is already underway, we won’t be able to set one up this time, but we will definitely keep it in mind for future campaigns.
You are a great example and a beacon of hope to our area. Have you reached out to or do you know if other libraries in our area are collaborating in the same efforts that you are? I am from Kenton County, but I spend a lot of time in Boone County and see the people that you help. You are making a difference in people’s lives. People are probably literally alive because of what you are doing. I hope the work you do is just the beginning of what will come about to help the homeless that are hurting in Northern Kentucky. God bless you in your work.
Hi Kitty – Thank you so much for your positive comment. We truly hope to always make a difference in our community.
