You asked for it, you got it! Your library books will now renew automatically!
As of June 1, 2019, physical items checked out from Boone County Public Library will now renew automatically. Our system will check your account for eligible items and extend their due date. It allows you the convenience of enjoying materials for a longer period of time without worrying about returning items right away or requesting a renewal. Items will be eligible for up to two auto-renewals of three weeks each.
Items that will not automatically renew include the following:
• Items that have reached their renewal limit
• Items someone else has requested to borrow (Item with a hold)
• Downloadable and streaming materials (eBooks, eMagazines,
eMovies, etc.)
• Reader’s Express Items
• Laptops, kits, WiFi Hot Spots
• Items borrowed from another library system
Your library books will now renew automatically!

This is good news! I appreciate the limitation on items others have requested (onhold items). Also, thanks for the e-newsletter to help keep us up to date on library changes and programs – Karyn Gavzer
Thank you, Karyn! We love to hear from satisfied patrons!
Great that will make things easier when I am watching my Grandson.
How do you know if your item was not automatically renewed for one of the reasons stated?
Hi Jacquline: If your item is not renewed, you will get and email message like this:
From BCPL – Some library items checked out to you are due today and cannot be renewed. Contact the library at 859-342-2665 or check your items online at bcpl.org.
