Yin-Shen Chang is a self-taught watercolor artist who discovered a passion for the medium in retirement and was captivated by its unpredictable nature. 

Through years of independent study, Yin-Shen has developed a style inspired by the landscapes of her native Taiwan and the work of Taiwanese landscape photographer Hsin-Hsien Chong. Her artistic journey has allowed her to reconnect with the land she left behind long ago, and her artwork reflects a desire to share Taiwan’s natural beauty with others.

About the Gallery

The Curt Bessette Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Main Library. It features work by regional and national artists as well as special, themed exhibits. The gallery gives local artists a chance to display their work for sale. 

The namesake of the gallery, Curt Bessette, was a quiet child who spent many hours drawing and creating art of the people and scenes around him. As time passed, his interest in art and talent for various artistic styles only grew until he became known by his peers as the Artist. Mr. Bessette also served on the Boone County Public Library Board of Trustees from July 2016 to February 2017.
