Embroidery is an easy way to decorate, personalize, or customize an item. The Brother Embroidery Machine (Model PE800), located at the Hebron BIL, is equipped with seven English fonts and 138 built-in designs. With ease, the machine embroiders and appliqués designs up to 5 x 7 inches in size. For more customization options, bring your own designs on a flash drive in one of the following acceptable file types: PES, PHC, or DST.

Embroidery thread is available at the BIL free of charge. However, embroidery projects require a stabilizer to keep designs from puckering. We have tear-away and cut-away stabilizers available for $.25 per sheet. Please research your project to determine if other stabilizers (such as water-soluble) are required. These are available for purchase at most fabric stores.

Book an appointment with the BIL to start your next project! Bring your item to embroider and any supplies needed. Please note that to embroider pre-made items, it must be possible to isolate an area so that one layer of fabric is within or on top of the embroidery hoop.

A BCPL library card in good standing is needed. If you don’t have one, stop by our Main, Scheben, Hebron, Florence, or Walton locations to sign up!

Visit the Brother website for more information about the machine.  And check out the Pattern List of pre-programmed patterns and fonts you can choose from, as well as the thread colors for each pattern.
