My career at Boone County Public Library started in 2000 as Access/Circulation Services Coordinator followed by Public Service Coordinator managing the Branch Managers, coordinating library services, developing staff training and starting Kentucky Libraries Unbound, the statewide eBook consortium. In 2014, I became Executive Director of the BCPL system.
Previously, I worked for Kenton County Public Library as a library shelver before moving into the Circulation, Technical Services and Reference departments. I then moved to Campbell County Public Library as the Reference/Special Projects Assistant working on a wide range of projects that gave me invaluable experience eventually leading me to a Branch Manager.
I attended graduate school at Indiana University planning to earn a Master’s degree in Folklore with an emphasis in Material Culture. I headed to the University Library for a job, and half of my schedule was Library Science classes. I quickly realized my passion. I transferred to the University of Kentucky’s School of Library and Information Science and never looked back.
I have loved my 22 years at BCPL. There have been so many opportunities to grow and expand as an employee, a librarian, and a part of the community. My career, and specifically my time at BCPL, has been engaging and rewarding. BCPL has the most passionate staff who really care about serving Boone County, and I am amazed at the projects, ideas, or services that staff bring to me.
In my free time, I love to cook and spend time with my family. I have three children ranging from middle school to college with my husband of 27 years. We love to play games and our current obsession is Seven Wonders and the various expansions. I love to watch NKU and UK basketball. I am a lifelong Bengals fan. And of course, I love to read.
